April 28 - April 29
RACE Approved: 12 hours
Laparoscopic ovariectomy is becoming a very popular procedure in general practice. This course is recommended for general practitioners with no or limited experience with laparoscopy. During this course, the participants will have access to online materials to learn about the technique before coming to CSU/TMI. One lecture in person will be conducted the afternoon before the lab for discussion and Q&A session with the instructors. It will be followed by a practice in simulators to learn hand eye coordination. A lab will then be performed to complete two laparoscopic ovariectomies in two canine cadavers. During this lab a demonstration will be performed by the instructors. Finally, each participant will participate in two live laparoscopic ovariectomies for dogs from a rescue.
