This course will focus on basic abdominal surgical procedures performed in general practice.  A strong emphasis will be placed on basic surgical principles related to gastrointestinal surgery and urinary surgery. This course includes 6 hours of lecture and 2 hours of the lab demonstration using canine cadavers. During the cadaver labs basic gastrointestinal surgery, urinary surgery, and splenectomy will be demonstrated by instructors.  At the end of this course, participants will be comfortable performing the techniques mentioned above.
