Laparoscopic ovariectomy is quickly becoming the in-demand method for spaying animals. It has several advantages, including prompt recovery, a shorter anesthetic period, fewer traumas, less hemorrhage, and excellent visualization over tradition open surgery. Not only is it less painful for the patient, but the quicker recovery time will get your patient back to their regular self, which will make owners happier.
This course is set up so that most of the lecture material can be covered in advance, at your own time, by watching the lectures online. Then, after a review session, you’ll be able to jump into the lab and start upgrading your skills. Starting on practice simulators for hand-eye coordination, you will then move to a lab to participate in the lap ov with canine cadavers. Each participant will cap off their experience with two laparoscopic ovariectomies on rescue dogs who would otherwise have a regular spay performed.
